When I was growing up, my grandma had a collection of chalkware plaques hanging in her kitchen of fruits and vegetables with faces on them. I loved them! Sometimes I would give them distinctive personalities and make stories up about them.

I think sometimes certain imagery gets baked into your subconscious when you’re that young. It stays with you. Even after all this time, they still appear in my work. I’ve made several different pieces with my own versions of anthropomorphic fruit and veg in it. 

For my first piece of 2026, I decided to make a beaded pin! This is my little tomato friend.
