Allegory Gallery - Johnstown

Allegory Gallery started in 2011 in Ligonier, PA. After an amazing 13 years there and growing into three different locations (each one larger than the last), we felt it was time for a change. We wanted to find a permanent home for our business instead of always renting, and when 608 Grove Avenue in Johnstown came on the market, it just felt right.

We knew that moving to a new location about 45 minutes away from our previous one would come with challenges. And, we knew it would mean pretty much starting over with our brick-and-mortar store in a new place. But, it was a challenge we were willing to take on because having a community space of our own has always been so very important to us. So, in February of 2024, we closed our Ligonier location and moved to Johnstown.

While much of our business is online these days, we still believe in the power of community. Over the past 14 years, we've seen how creativity and community can shape lives. We've watched young people come in to start their creative journey with us only to go on to start their own jewelry businesses. We've watched others learn how to make earrings and then use that ability to help support themselves by selling them to purchase books in college or meal plans. We've seen retirees who were new to town come in and sit down at our class table to make with new friends and form long-lasting friendships that expanded past the boundaries of the store. Community and creativity are important to us, and we still believe that people want a physical place to do that in…to make things…to form bonds with others. That's why we've continued to operate our physical store and pour so much love and energy into it.

We are a fully-stocked bead store. You can come in and purchase gemstone beads, Czech glass, vintage pearls, moon glow lucite, and so much more! We have a great supply of artisan-made items (both by friends we know and our own products), and we have a steady supply of gift items and jewelry available as well. We can't be everything to everyone, but we do our best to have a great supply for those who want to create and for those who just want to buy finished products.

We also offer classes in basic jewelry making and the tools you need to make everything. If you come in to purchase items from us, you can sit down the same day and make something with them. We'll guide you all the way through the process. Classes are free as long as you purchase materials with us, and we can show you how to turn them into necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more!

We hope you'll join us! We're open Friday-Sunday 11am-6pm (ET). No appointments are necessary (unless you'd like to bring a large group, then we ask that you do call ahead), and we will sit down with you to create anytime we're open!
