We've just announced SEVEN new Inspiration Kits during The Great Bead Extravaganza intended for our latest Design Challenge Competition—The Houses Competition Challenge! Below are descriptions for each of the Houses and below that are the rules and dates for the competition:
House of the Midnight Key
- A blend of metallics and inky blacks.
Members of the House of the Midnight Key are interested in unlocking the mysteries of the Universe and exploring the unseen. They are deep thinkers.
House of the Desert Heart
- A blend of ruby reds, creamy parchment, and turquoise.
Members of the House of the Desert Heart are resilient, bold, and adaptable. They are resourceful and natural survivors.
House of the Fallen Petal
- A blend of blushing pinks, cool lavender, and pale peach.
Members of the House of the Fallen Petal are intuitive, empathetic and are connected with their feelings. They are thoughtful, caring, and nurturing.
House of the Endless Sea
-A blend of sapphire blues, azure, and silver.
Members of the House of the Endless Sea are explorers, voyaging forth chart undiscovered countries. They are intrepid and always have their eyes to the sky and the horizon.
House of the Wood Haven
- A blend of earthy browns and warm tans.
Members of the House of the Wood Haven are protective, strong, and community oriented. They find peace in wild places and love animals.
House of the Enchanted Twilight
- A blend of dreamy purples and mysterious charcoal.
Members of the House of the Enchanted Twilight are dreamers and are interested in what could be. They are connected and can influence the energies of the world.
House of the Setting Sun
- A blend of vibrant yellows, oranges, and pinks.
Members of the House of the Setting Sun see the beauty in things. They are energetic, optimistic and celebrate life.
If you'd like to take part in this competition, please see the details below; however, before we go further, we want to stress that while there is certainly a competition aspect of this particular challenge, the option to participate in that aspect is completely voluntary. We do not want people to be dissuaded from engaging in the challenge because they feel they're not qualified (for whatever reason) to be in a competition. This is open to all skill levels and we encourage participation from beginners to long-time makers.
If you're not familiar with our Challenge or Inspiration Kits, they are a really fun and relaxed way to expand your creativity and push yourself to make with an arrangement of materials selected by us. It's a lovely way to see where your muse takes you. We have a suggested reveal date, where we encourage participants to share what they've made using as much or as little of the kit as they like. This is still the same, but we've got a few additions:
The Reveal Date for this challenge is Thursday, May 27th, 2021.
The Houses Competition Challenge will conclude pretty much the same as all our other challenges with participants posting their creations into an album in our Allegory Gallery Design Challenges Facebook Group. How this Reveal Date is different from previous ones is that each designer will only be allowed to submit ONE of their creations for judging.
First round voting concludes Thursday, June 3rd, 2021!
During the time between May 27th and June 3rd, participants will be encouraged to vote on the designs in their House(s). They can vote for one piece in their House(s) that they like the best. Participants can vote (once) for any of the submitted pieces—except their own. Participants can only vote for pieces in the House(s) that they belong to. This means that there is a maximum of twenty-four votes per the First Round voting per each House. Since challengers can be members of more than one House, they can vote in the all the Houses they belong to—but again, only once per House.
First round voting results will be announced Friday, June 4th, 2021!
At the close of the First Round Voting, votes will be tallied and the winners of each House will be announced. Each winner will win a gift card to Allegory Gallery worth $25.00 and a specially designed kit.
People's Choice and Judges' Choice voting: Friday June 4th to June 10th, 2021!
During this time period, voting will be opened to everyone—anyone who cares to vote can do so regardless of House affiliation or of kit purchase. We ask that people vote for only one creation that is their favorite during this time period. The winner of this will be awarded with the People's Choice Award. Also during this time period, a panel of Allegory Gallery judges will pick their favorites and decide upon a winner of the Judges' Choice.
People's Choice and Judges' Choice winners announced on June 11th, 2021.
The winner of the People's Choice Award will receive a $100 gift card to Allegory Gallery. The winner of the Judges's Choice Award will also receive a $100 gift card to Allegory Gallery.
