We wanted to let you know about a fundrasier for a dear-to-our-hearts organization—the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths.
Here's a little from Andrew about what this non-profit means to him:
"It’s the End of the Year Fundraiser for the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths and it’s an important time to help raise funds for the operating expenses and programming for the upcoming year! The more funds available, the more we are able to do.
Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to attend a workshop with the amazing Elizabeth Brim at the Center for Metal Arts in Johnstown, PA. I wouldn’t have been able to attend if it wasn’t for the generous support of the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths! Really, there isn’t a blacksmithing program in this country that has benefited in some way by SIBs.
After seeing the tremendous impact they’ve made, I responded to a call for interest about helping put together a BIPOC retreat for makers working in metal! This will include blacksmiths and metalsmiths! It has grown into a multi-year commitment with exhibitions and programming lined up across the country! The first event will take place in September 2024 at The Steel Yard in Providence, RI!
So please consider contributing to this campaign appeal! There’s a ton of Thank You Swag available and various programs you can allocate funds for! I would be beyond thrilled if you would consider supporting the BIPOC retreat!
Even if you can’t give financially, there are still ways to help! If you would please share the message and help boost the signal, that would be amazing! You never know who will see the post and it could mean the difference between reaching our fundraising goal and not. So please, please, please help this very important mission!"
